Infinity Pool

Lake Michigan meets Meadow Lake.

This tune was born from a series of experiments around asymmetric looping and overdubbing by taking (some) advantage of the DD-20's extra long delay time and manipulating the loop by adjusting the subdivisions (i.e. dotted eighth, triplets). The idea was to create an amorphous loop, improvise over it, mess with the infinite repeats mode, then return home to the original loop. This was the second take at that idea. It turned out pretty good. I've done about fifteen of these kinds of experiments, and this one was pretty tight. Much, much more to go with this concept, but it's interesting and I want to integrate it into a live performance.

Of course, I added lots of dubs to fill out it out towards the end. The base is just part of the original recording, and I've added bits of the half we don't hear on top of the original. Plus a tiny sample; I won't say who (I hear this guy likes to sue), but if you email with the guess I'll send you free merch.

Art is a composite I made in GNU Image Manipulation Program. The reinforcing image combo of the dark lake and the "plunge" at the end of the track is incidental. I decided on the photo having forgotten the ending sounded like that. Ideas percolating under the surface, I guess. DammitIdiditagain.
